Creative Leap

Client brief

Make the Personal Purposeful

Creative Leap owns, develops and manages luxury, heritage hospitality assets. Its portfolio is as varied as a 9-bedroom, 1909-built liberty-style Villa Peduzzi above Lake Como and Muirfield Gate, a mansion a stone’s throw from the first tee at Muirfield, birthplace of golf and home of The Open. But the properties driving this brand aren’t investments in the usual sense — Villa Peduzzi and Muirfield Gate began as personal passion projects and family hub before they were ever commercial ventures.

Before any brand system could hold that range, Normal . needed to find what actually connected it. Igniting Purpose workshop brought the family together to name the values underneath five very different properties — and what surfaced wasn’t a market position. It was the family’s own instinct: recuperate and transform, in service of something bigger than any single address.

Who is Normal .

Normal . is an independent brand strategy and experience design practice. Creative Leap has ambitious growth plans to source, develop and manage hospitality projects globally and enlisted Normal . to transform its corporate brand (previously Chic & Unique), the brand architecture and visual identity system to prepare for that scale.

The challenge was to give deeply personal, sentimental properties a shared purpose — without asking them to stop being personal. Normal . led the process end to end: purpose discovery through Igniting Purpose, brand architecture, naming, and creative direction, in collaboration with Normal’s visual identity partner, Maison Sagan.

Igniting Purpose Workshop

Igniting Purpose

Normal . Method

Igniting Purpose is Normal .’s proprietary workshop for uncovering brand purpose directly with client stakeholders — before creative direction, before naming, before anything ownership might mistake for the finished answer.

For Creative Leap, the workshop’s real work was permission. Villa Peduzzi and Muirfield Gate weren’t described to us as assets. They were described as as family hub, as sentimental value — the language of things owned for love, not yield. Igniting Purpose gave that instinct a vocabulary: restore, recuperate, transform. Not a market position borrowed from elsewhere, but the family’s own reason for building any of this in the first place, named out loud and made usable.

Creator of Transformation

The Big Idea, Normal . Method

The proposition starts with a community, not a company.

Creative Leap’s guests are driven by nostalgia for simpler times against a backdrop of over-connectivity — untethering from global cities, stressful workplaces, and the burden of assets that own them back. What they’re looking for isn’t another luxury stay. It’s the exceptional, the rejuvenating, a place to grow while connecting with people who think the same way. Three pillars carry that proposition:

Exceptional Creations — a singular passion for creative achievement, expressed through properties with real historical and artistic heritage in genuinely exceptional locations.

Custodian of Renewal — bringing together curious, playful people for their own restoration and growth, not just their entertainment.

Force-for-Good — the brand is purpose-driven in its own right, and in the process becomes a transformative force for the communities it touches.

Create. Renew. Transform. Creative Leap doesn’t just build places — it’s the custodian of its community’s restoration, growth, and life-changing betterment.

Creative Leap

A new corporate identity – Creative Leap – was imagined to manifest the brand’s purpose and proposition. Creative carries the singular, rare character each property already has.

Leap is the action word — modern, simple, and deliberate, positioning the brand as the protagonist of its own transformation rather than a passive holding company. The name ends on that action term for emphasis.

Brand Architecture

Creative Leap is a corporate brand sitting above a portfolio where some properties are commercial ventures and others are still, functionally, someone’s family home.

Normal . applied the Need vs. Relevance Brand Architecture framework and found that each property’s individuality wasn’t a branding obstacle to smooth over. It was the thing the architecture had to protect. The recommendation: a gradual evolution from independent branding to medium endorsement, where each property keeps its own name and character, and Creative Leap sits quietly behind it.

Visual Identity

Kin Tsugi

The creative concept behind Creative Leap’s visual system is Kin Tsugi — the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold lacquer, where the seams aren’t hidden but celebrated as proof that something was cared for enough to be made whole again rather than replaced. Gold, joinery, renewal, leap, lift: the same vocabulary that shaped the brand name shaped its visual language too, translating restoration into a design principle rather than just a metaphor.

Creative Leap visual identity was developed together with Normal .’s Paris-based VI partner firm, Maison Sagan.

Proof of Impact

Creative Leap’s homepage opens with the exact words Normal . gave it: “custodians of renewal and creators of transformation.” The portfolio has grown from five properties to six — Villa Peduzzi, Muirfield Gate, Muirfield Green, The Charleston, Poojakanda, and newest addition Fortnight Farm — each still trading under its own name, exactly as the architecture intended.

It wasn’t a metaphor I was reaching for — it was recognition. Here was centuries old proof that the break can be the thing that makes the getting-put-back-together worth noticing. I knew immediately that was the feeling this brand needed to hold — a kind of pride in having been through something and come out more valuable for it.”
